Respect Thy Leader

One of the commandments of being a good follower involves a seven letter word known as R-E-S-P-E-C-T (Aretha Franklin voice). Leaders need respect. Without it, the dance partnership is doomed to fail before the dance even begins. As a follower, you also want to avoid landing on a leader's mental "do-not-dance" list for being disrespectful (even if you mean no harm). Because we have your back, we're sharing seven simple ways to show respect to leaders on the dance floor and receive the gift of connection in return.

Recognize the value of your partner's leadership and receive it with an open mind and heart.

Exchange energy with your leader and be easy to lead.

Surrender control and submit to your leader.

Polarize yourself by leaning into your feminine energy while your leader embodies masculine energy.

Embody your powerful role as a follower and embrace the different qualities in your leader.

Connect with your leader instead of competing for the leadership role.

Trust your leader to lead the steps and direction of the dance (even if you get lost).

Remember followers, a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T goes a long way and leaders need it. So be generous and give a lot of it.
